Small crew today but a nice one! Jayda, Jackets and Wicket. Super sunny, no one on the trails, perfect! Couldn't ask for anything more. We did a few fun things today, worked on taking treats nicely but also worked on the "come" command. Hiking is a perfect time to work on things like this because yourself and the dogs are physically stimulated which makes learning much easier.

It is clear on a trail where you are going, and if you pay attention, you will notice that the dogs will keep you in eye-sight at all times. Just watch their ears, they know where you are. So to step out of the trail slightly will add to the dog's curiosity as to where you are and chances are they will wait a sec until they see you. Add a command (any saying like "this way") and BIG reward when they come to you. Today again was pepperoni! If the dog looks but isn't coming, turn the other way and 95% of the time, the dog will follow you. Then quick and positive reward that will make the dog want to follow you each time. Don't even have to use words if you don't have to. This is a great way to teach them to always stay close. Chances are they want to anyway!

Jackets went for a nice swim!

Check out Jacket's hind legs- caught her in mid air.

Wickie is always the first one to move onto the next obstacle/interesting feature...

Jacket was first across the bridge looking back at these guys wondering what is taking them so long...
