Sunshine and good companions

Freezing cold valley winds brought lovely sunshine for the morning's hike - Lyric, Ever, Ju and I spent a great couple of hours trucking along the Loggers access road...we did not actually go up to the lake today, I sensed the good companionship of the three girls and the need to explore somewhat, so we kept going...the girls keenly sniffing here and there, taking time to investigate a little further at times (Ju!) and for me I wondered if we would reach  the yellow gate that is access to the Black Tusk.

 Chilly start...

...then along came the sun, lovely!

Oh, and for anyone that may not be familiar with the trails, don't ever agree to meet someone at the 'Riverside' sign...pretty much each signpost we passed detailed the Riverside trail, on both sides of the road! These trail networks are awesome actually, and suuuuper fun in the summer too...I personally love them the most in the winter when it is just me, the dogs, the mountains and the sun...:)
Riverside anyone?!

We kept going until we reached the start of the climb, no yellow gate, but didn't feel far off, and I made the call to have some treats, sit for a couple of mins to talk to each dog, then head for home. Lyric is like a coiled spring, and sat for all of 30 seconds for cuddles then was ready to keep moving! Ju stuck her head in the snow and burrowed and Ever yapped in her squeaky way impatient to move, so I briefly made them all sit to attention for some love, treats, and a quick photo before we moved off...

treat and camera in hand...can ya tell?!

Lyric stops long enough for a shot by the river...lovely bouncy girl!

We pretty much trotted all the way home after that, the cold kept the snow solid and the sunshine lifted our spirits collectively. Another awesome day, and safe travels home to dear Julia and her lovely family who we will see again in a month or so, I will miss you Ju - be a good girl! Final shot below is the three girls in the truck after another beautiful hike...life is good!

Had to post both pics...their expressions are so funny!

what good girls...!
