Well hellooo everyone! I had an awesome week with some family who came to visit, and am back on duty with my furry family - albeit only two of them today! Before I go on, may I just yell "WOOOOO! ..." What awesome athletes who should be proud to be Olympians (regardless of results/medals) and what a great vibe about town! I was cheering for the Brits, Holland - and of course CANADA! Lets here it now for the Para's...gonna be awesome! So Glowing Hearts all round, I am back to the dogs...ah how I missed them all, but loved the time-out. Was champing at the bit to get out there with them, and today Julia and Skipper eased me into the week with a beautiful hike. We stayed local and toured the Emerald Forest and surrounding trails...hence my green and white reference in the title - green forest, white dogs (no, not the snow this time - it's almost gone in some areas!) and CANADA GOLD!
After playing in the park and along the valley trail (lots of good mornings and sniffs to fellow walkers and their pooches) Skip suggested we should get into the forest for some peace and quiet to listen out for squirrels, birds, and the emerging wildlife...Ju and I agreed, so in we went!
Please can we go into the forest now...?
We roved about, no real trip plan or anything, just played and ran and sniffed and chased - reminded me of my early years getting lost in the woods with our dog while my mum took care of her horse and wondered where on earth I was! I would emerge covered in mud with a big smile...today was like that!! It was awesome, and creatures everywhere are coming out as well as the spring growth...so early but feels good! Skip and Ju were wired to the forest, loving it and behaving so well! Skip even came back after a 30 second small animal chase smiling at me and telling me what a good boy he is! Here are some pics...
in we go...
lots to sniff (and pee on eh Skipper?!!)
The lovely Ju and her pointy little ears spy a creature..wonder what it was?
Skip looking mysterious - think the flash made him squint but he had just returned from a brief squirrel chase and leaped down from the rocks for a cuddle and a 'goooooood boy!'
We then found a clearing and had a rage around - well, the dogs played hard and I laughed and took pictures! Skip and Ju were soooooo funny - they pause....wait...pounce and go go go! Before pausing, waiting, then off again - both yipping at each other. Love it!
It started with a sniff....
...then an eye-meet....
..then weeeeeeeeee!
after a while they slowed to a trot, found a creek to drink from...and it was then time to go back into the forests and resume our exploring :)
...sniffing down to some water where on 'capturing them drink' I managed to drop the camera in it, get all wet from Ju's longline that wrapped round me, and somehow come out with a working camera, relatively dry clothes and two refreshed dogs! No picture though - it was a lame shot of Ju's rump!
Searching for a way out...it was time to get back to the truck already!
One more pointy-eared shot...cannot resist!
Then home.....see y'all tomorrow!
Parting shot...an Eagle was flying overhead....awesome, and honestly it's not a crow!! Aroooooo!
