Bushwhack Wednesday!

We headed to my fave hiking venue after the Olympic hiatus - it was good to be back! Loggers Lake and all the surrounding trails are awesome, particularly Crater Rim trail :) and today, although we did not get to that elevation is was really good to stomp around the lake and surrounding trails, albeit in blowing snow on an isothermal snowpack!! Heads down, tails up we bushwhacked along (I luckily had snowshoes as at one point we were all post-holing) and it was a steady state kind of training day for us all...I am pooched! Hope the woofers are too...today we had Bosley, Wicket & Jackets, Rudy and Jayda. The heavens opened towards the end of the hike, with freezing kevels teetering around zero, so the camera stayed in my pocket for the most part, but here are the shots I did manage!!

Off we go galloping in the rain

Into the snoooo!

It gets deeper :)

Time for a sit, and then some treats! Good doggy-do's, from L-R Bosley, Jackets, Rudy, Jayda and Wicket, all sitting pretty!

Up we go...tongues already lolling!

Nearing our turnaround point..at this stage I was panting with them!

Yup...that was it really - too deep and wet to carry on. So we then did what we do second best after powering up hills...we rolled around and played in it! I was soaked through my Gore-Tex but it was soooo fun!

I must have been sweaty as Jayda clearly decided I needed a wash! Rudy, close behind joined in too...ha ha doggy facials!! Not your average pass time but I don't care...I love them all! I just have to shower off before my husband will kiss me ha ha..if anyone had been around they would have been faced with 5 dogs and a mad woman rolling around in the snow!! The camera ate it a couple of times, and had to dry out in an inner pocket...goood times :)

And then down we went...much easier this time. Check out dear Jackets..looking up as usual to make sure the sky isn't falling!!

We had a short breather and a drink at the lake, I love this shot...Rudy contemplates!

...as does Bos!

And then it was time to mosey on back down to the truck - an awesome day, I am soooo hungry and gonna head home for a bath! The dear doggies should all be tired out for you, ready for another hike tomorrow. Aroooooooo!
Last shot of the day above...soggy camera needed a time-out, I guess it's time to get the ziplock bags out for the April showers!!
